Re:Action -- Birth Control in 2012
Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM (EST)
These are the witnesses Congress called upon to discuss birth control coverage at a House Oversight Committee hearing this past Thursday. And this isn’t the first time (or the 500th) we’ve seen women left out of the conversation.
AAUW demands a re-do, and so we are hosting our own infinitely smarter, in-depth discussion on the recent events surrounding women’s access to birth control.
Where: AAUW, 16th and L Streets NW (Two blocks from the Farragut North Metro station)
When: Wednesday, February 22
5:30 -- light refreshments
6:00 -- panel begins
Sandra Fluke, Georgetown Law student who was silenced at last week’s
Ann Gerhart, author of recent WaPo article on birth control
Sara Hutchinson, Catholics for Choice
Lisa Maatz, AAUW top policy adviser
What else: The opportunity to get involved, be heard, and find out how we can take this issue and make it matter. Adult beverages will be provided for attendees 21 and older.
