Note: All segments are updated for 2013!
Here are a few of the many topics we cover in this program --
Reaching Resolution: 10 Advanced Techniques for Overcoming Impasse
Excellent training, years of experience and a good reputation won't do a mediator any good if he or she can't "close the deal" in mediation. Mediation consumers hire mediators who can help opposing parties settle their case. This segment will give you no less than 10 advanced techniques for overcoming impasse in mediation. We'll apply impasse-breaking techniques to real-life cases and find new ways to help parties reach resolution.
Attorneys vs. Mediators: A Difference of Opinion Regarding the Goals and Outcomes of Mediation A recent ABA study on mediation reveals significant discrepancies of what attorneys and mediators expect out of mediation. These differences of opinion often result in impasse at the mediation table. This segment will focus on understanding these differences and how they can be used to maximize results at mediation for all involved -- the mediation, the attorneys and the disputing parties.
The Science of Mediation What does research tell us about impasse and settlement in mediation? What does brain research teach us about reaching resolution? This segment will explore what over 20 years of research, statistics and experience have taught us about the science of mediation. Why do otherwise rational people act irrationally in mediation? And, more importantly, what can you do about it to lead parties to resolution? How do the brain, emotion, and ego influence mediation outcomes? You will be amazed at what science and research can teach YOU about mediation!
All of the above, plus Case Law Updates, Recent Developments and Much, Much More!
