Ratty Scurvics has been composing music and poetry for over 25 years. A native New Orleanian, he lived in the French Quarter as a young child. With a reputation as a courageous composer, Ratty has a massive volume of original material (over 40 albums worth) that just keeps coming. He is a multi instrumentalist that performs mainly on piano. He was as a one man band called Singularity for several years and now has a group called The Black Market Butchers.
Ratty's talent in the arts is not limited to music. He studied painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and his video for the song "Hold On" showcases his talent as a visual artist and all around producer. He wrote a multimedia puppet performance art musical entitled “The Legend of Suzy Sidesaddle,” with his wife Oops the Clown and starred as Mack the Knife in a production of the Three Penny Opera.
Grammy award winning Producer John Porter describes Ratty's premier musical release, "It doesn’t have one style, so it’s almost like a modern vaudevillian. I would definitely say it’s New Orleans music, but really it’s a specific product of the Bywater neighborhood, with all its crazy art and music.”
A night of solo performance, storytelling and music with a trio.
