ACT's Rails & Ales SeptemBeerFest is a beer-tasting fund-raiser benefiting Altoona Community Theatre featuring the upcoming autumn seasonal offerings by both well-known and upstart brewers.
Rails and Ales will take place in the railyard of Altoona's RAILROADERS MEMORIAL MUSEUM (www.railroadcity.com), where attendees will have a chance to sample great-tasting ales and ciders from Troegs, Marzoni's, Curve Premium, Great Lakes, Magic Hat, Atwater, Old Forge, Third Shift, Southern Tier, Angry Orchard, Batch 19, Kona, Blue Moon, Sam Adams and Dusquesne, to name a few.
Ticket purchase includes three hours of beer-sampling, souvenir mini-stein, two hot dogs with sauerkraut,and pretzels. All patrons must present proper ID, regardless of age; no one under 21 will be admitted. Tickets are non-refundable. Entertainment by Tyne Palazzi & Pat McGinnis plus Jack & Lilly. ALTOONA COMMUNITY THEATRE
is a nonprofit arts organization celebrating its 65th Anniversary this year of providing the area with outstanding live stage performances and the opportunity for local residents to express themselves in all aspects of the theatre arts. During its upcoming 2013-2014 season on the Benzel Stage at the Historic Mishler Theatrel, ACT will present Neil Simon's popular comedy "Barefoot in the Park," the hit Broadway musical "Annie," Arthur Miller's classic drama about the Salem witch trials "The Crucible" and Stephen Sondheim's acclaimed musical thriller "Sweeney Todd." ACT also offers summer workshops for children and teens plus other educational programs, including The Isaacs, an awards and scholarship program recognizing excellence in high school musicals.
