About the artists:

Samarth Nagarkar (Vocal)- Samarth Nagarkar is a Hindustani (North Indian) classical vocalist known for his captivating performances and an authentic, traditionally rich approach towards raagdaari (raga exposition) and gayeki  (stylistic distinction). Trained under Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar and Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, he is a former scholar of the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata. Currently based in new York, pursuing a full-fledged career as a performing vocalist,  Samarth is  described by critics as one of the most prolific and promising young artistes of today.

                              Abhik Mukherjee- sitar
Abhik Mukherjee (Sitar)- Abhik Mukherjee hails from the great Etawah-Imdadkhani gharana of sitar and surbahar and is a rising talent among the younger generation. He was initiated into sitar at the age of six, by his father, Sri Tarit Kumar Mukherjee, and Sri Bimal Chatterjee. He simultaneously received vocal training from Sri Kalyan Bose. He is presently taking talim under Pandit Kashinath Mukherjee (a leading disciple of Sitar Maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan and vocalist Ustad Amir Khan) and from Pandit Arvind Parikh. He has received valuable musical guidance from Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. He has also received blessings from none other than the late sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan.

                                   Steve Gorn- bansuri
Steve Gorn (Bansuri)- Steve Gorn has performed Indian Classical Music and new American Music on the bansuri bamboo flute in concerts and festivals throughout the world. His gurus are the late bansuri master Sri Gour Goswami, of Kolkata, and Pandit Raghunath Seth of Mumbai, who he has often accompanies in concert. He has also studied with the late Ustad Z. M. Dagar. During the past decade Steve has often performed in India, appearing at Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, Triveni Hall in New Delhi, The Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata, NCPA, and The Nehru Center in Mumbai, and numerous other venues. His performance with Pandit Ravi Shankar’s disciple, Barun Kumar Pal, at Kolkata’s Rama Krishna Mission, was televised throughout India.

                               Nitin Mitta- tabla

Nitin Mitta (Tabla)- Nitin Mitta is one of the most accomplished and distinctive tabla players of his generation, with a reputation for technical virtuosity, spontaneity, clarity of tone, and sensitivity to melodic nuances.  Apart from being a dynamic soloist, he is a highly sought after accompanist who has performed with some of India’s most celebrated Hindustani classical musicians, including Pandit Jasraj, Dr. Prabha Atre, Pandits Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, and Ustad Shahid Parvez, as well as many Carnatic musicians, such as Lalgudi G.J.R Krishnan and Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi. www.nitinmitta.com

Gopal Roy since 2003.  With authenticity, pure tone, subtlety and maturity, Eric's playing is both emotionally and technically compelling, which immediately takes listeners on a journey.  Eric is a 2011 Fulbright senior research scholar for Indian music, and has a diverse background playing for Indian classical dance, as well as in projects ranging from Jazz, World, New Age, Indie and more.  Aside from playing Indian classical flute, Eric is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and a music therapist (MA, MT-BC) working with children. www.ericfraser.com
