Event Details

Ford Foundation JustFilms and Philanthropy New York present a special screening of

“Rafea: Solar Mama”

Directed by Mona Eldaief and Jehane Noujaim

Rafea, a Bedouin woman who lives with her four daughters in a poor Jordanian village on the Iraqi border, has a chance to train to be her country’s first female solar engineer. At the innovative Barefoot College in India, she will gain the skills she needs to provide for her children and learn to power her entire village. But can she rewire the traditional thinking of her Bedouin community?

Please join us for a screening of this powerful film, followed by a conversation with co-director Mona Eldaief.
