Rho Psi Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. / RPO, Inc.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University and is the oldest Greek-lettered organization founded by African American college-educated women. Today, Alpha Kappa Alpha is comprised of over 260,000 women in over 400 undergraduate and graduate chapters around the world who focus on economic security, global poverty, health, and social justice as part of their community service programming.
Rho Psi Omega Chapter was founded in 1989 and is a graduate chapter of 200 professional women in the Charlotte area who seek to provide volunteer and financial support to organizations and programs that align with the international mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
RPO, Inc.is a non-profit, charitable corporation organized under the laws of North Carolina in 1999 with the mission of providing purpose-driven programs that empower individuals and communities to grow, strengthen, and sustain. The organization received its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service in 2002..
Event History: There have been two similar events sponsored by these organizations in 2009 and 2011. Each event has had approximately 500 participants in the form of attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and workshop presenters.
