CAVE and the Colorado Wine Industry Development Board jointly present a day-long seminar on quality control, quality improvement and quality assurance focused on procedures and protocols within both the winery in general and the laboratory specifically. Corey Guinee with Core Enology in Oregon, who consulted with a dozen Colorado wineries last summer on their lab techniques, will return to present this seminar once in Denver and once in Grand Junction.
He will start by looking at “big picture” approaches to quality control and improvement in all aspects of winery operations and then drill down on the laboratory, whether your lab is high-tech and all digital or a simple beaker and Bunsen burner.
The seminars will also include brief presentations on the Colorado Wine Quality Alliance program and other topics pertaining to quality improvement. There is no charge for the seminar itself, however, a buffet lunch is $20 per person in Denver.
The seminars will be followed by a guided wine tasting blindly looking at fault identification and assessment as well as a social hour. We encourage all participants to bring a bottle or two with flaws or concerns for constructive assessment and critique by the entire group, but you do not have to identify the problem bottle as yours.
