The PYM LIVE philosophy
We know that your time is precious. We also realize that you feel a relentless pressure to stay current and keep up with new meeting trends and ideas. That's why we think of our PYM LIVE events as a laboratory designed to spark new ideas and ways of doing things. We're constantly tinkering with our format, education, meeting tech and engagement strategies so that when you attend, you're getting the chance to experience new things that might work for your next conference.
You won't find lectures, you'll find group challenges and interactive education. You won't experience a traditional trade show, you'll be able to speed-date our partners so you can find out who truly fits your needs. You won't just hear about cutting-edge technology, you'll be able to see how and why it works.
Speaking of technology, we'll be using a Topi conference app that's embedded with an augmented reality scanner. Our educational panel of meeting industry experts will take place via a Google+ Hangout that we'll be broadcasting live to remote pods. These pods will also get to participate in the group challenge.
Prior to the event, we'll send you videos explaining how to make the most of these elements, as well as the speed dating portion of our trade show. We'll also be doing an on-site tech orientation a half-hour before the event starts. So come early to register and get plugged in!
Educational session: Moving the Needle with Gregg J. Herning
Moving the Needle emphasizes the need for all of us, in our individual roles to move past mediocrity. At the end of the day, have we made a difference in our execution? Have we exceeded the expectations of our guests or attendees? To remain competitive, this is the new norm.
Attendees will hear real-time ideas on getting our business (and personal) lives back to a pre-recession mentality. Four years in the "doldrums" has been wearing to our energy and confidence levels. As leaders in our industry, we need to accelerate our return to robust activity levels. It's time to implement new protocols and be the sparkplug in your circle of influence.
The program will offer suggestions on fresh approaches to meetings, reports, and communications, both internally and externally. Learn the greatest lesson we can take away from the movie Moneyball. Learn ways to put the silver bullet into the "energy vampires" in our daily lives.
Gregg Herning, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Peabody Hotels, is an award-winning hospitality professional. Known best for his creative and innovative approach to hospitality sales and marketing, he has served in multiple capacities with The Peabody Hotel Group for the past 11 years. He began his Peabody career as the director of sales and marketing for the hotel group’s flagship property, The Peabody Memphis and was later named as General Manager of The Peabody Little Rock hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas. While there, he guided the property to earn the Forbes Four Star designation, the first ever in the state’s history. In 2010, Gregg was promoted to Vice President, Sales & Marketing. During his tenure with Peabody Hotels, Gregg was named “Leader of the Year” by Peabody Hotels President/CEO Martin Belz in 2006 and honored with the President’s Award for Special Achievement in 2010 and 2012. Gregg devotes much of his efforts in developing sales and marketing talent for the hospitality industry, frequently speaking and serving as an adjunct instructor at hotel schools across the country. What is a "qualified meeting planner"?
Because we also want to provide value to our exhibiting partners, we define this as a person who plans at least one (and hopefully more) off-site meetings a year. We don't discriminate against students and aspiring planners, though! But if you are a student or someone just breaking into the industry, you might want to start with our Virtual Attendee option. Otherwise, you won't be able to enjoy a large portion of the event.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
If you find yourself unable to attend, but you have a friend who is a qualified meeting planner, let us know and we will honor the ticket you purchased when they bring it with them.
What is the refund policy?
We're meeting planners too, we realize that sometimes life just happens. If you need to cancel, let Claudia Madigan know and we'll refund the cost of the ticket, minus the Eventbrite fees. If they let us waive those, we'll refund the full amount of the purchase.
