In 2013, over 250 people joined us at the inaugural Purple Light Walk at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The Purple Light Walk is an event to shed light on the prevelance of domestic violence in Cincinnati and the efforts of community members to end it. Last year, particpants learned about local resources, enjoyed free food and music, and walked together while carrying purple glowsticks to "shine their light for the fight against domestic violence."
We are excited to announce the second annual Purple Light Walk! This year, the resource fair and program will be held on The Purple People Bridge overlooking the Ohio River. The walk will loop about 2 miles past Great American Ballpark and through the Cincinnati Banks area. Prior to the start of the walk, there will be free food and a raffle, a resource fair, music and dancing. We are also excited to welcome back our energetic and enthusiastic emcee from last year, Cincinnati Police Officer Princess Davis!
As always, the event is FREE to all participants! This year, participants will also be able to purchase a Purple Light Walk t-shirt at the event for a cost of $12. Only cash will be accepted at the event. Please make sure to choose the ticket option titled "I am attending the Purple Light Walk and plan to purchase a t-shirt at the event for $12- cash only!" if you are planning on purchasing a t-shirt on the day of the walk.
Registration and a resource fair will begin at 5:30PM and the event program will kick off at 6:30PM. The start of the walk will begin at 7PM. Make sure you come early to pick up your FREE purple glow stick to carry during the walk!
If you are interested in volunteering for the walk, please contact Casey Frazee Katz at email@example.com. If you or your organization would like to take part in the resource fair please contact Ellen Newman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please join us for an evening filled with energy, support, resources, music, and of course purple glow sticks! We hope you will walk with us and "shine your light for the fight against domestic violence!"
