Public Health Education Collaborative: Evidence Based Practice in Public Health
Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (PDT)
Health Education Administration (HEA) is excited to announce its second Public Health Education Collaborative (PHEC) for this year!
What: Public Health Education Collaborative: Evidence Based Practice in Public Health Education
When: Tuesday, May 7th from 9:00am-12:00pm
Where: 600 S. Commonwealth, LA, 90005 / 9th Floor, Conference Room 907 A/B.
Our May session will focus on evidence-based practice. We’ll have Stephanie Caldwell, Special Assistant to the Director and Health Officer of the LA County Department of Public Health, speak about the departmental expectation of using sources of evidence-based practice in our everyday work. We’ll also stress the importance of adding to the evidence base when current evidence is unavailable. We’ll use HEA’s plain language training and it’s recent designation as a promising practice by the National Association of City and County Health Officials as an example of practical steps to that end. More importantly, we’ll provide a forum for health education professionals to discuss opportunities and barriers to publishing in academic journals and presenting at professional conferences in an effort to expand the public health evidence base.
An agenda will be forthcoming.
The Collaborative is open to health educators and anyone with an interest in health education. Both internal and external partners are invited to attend, so please feel free to distribute this email and flyer widely.
Note: County staff is encouraged to secure their supervisor's approval prior to attending educational events.
If you have any questions, contact Erika Siever at: email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing you there!
