 January Luncheon

Topic Summary:

The future of public broadcasting is changing in communities all over the country. Just this summer here in Central Florida, WMFE announced that it was shuttering the local PBS station. A visionary partnership between the University of Central Florida and Brevard Community College has given new life to local PBS and kept public broadcasting in Orlando.

Grant J. Heston, UCF's Associate Vice President for Communicatinos and Public Affairs, helped lead the team taht saved public broadcastign in Central Florida. Grant will talk about how UCF and BCC brought WUCF-TV, the region's new and only PBS station, to life and what the future holds for this precious community resource.

Our January luncheon will also include a tour of the new WUCF-TV studios at UCF, PRSA Orlando will also recognize the winner of hte Frank Stansberry Scholarship, which is awarded annually to an exceptional student enrolled in the public relations program at UCF.
