The future of public broadcasting is changing in communities all over the country. Just this summer here in Central Florida, WMFE announced that it was shuttering the local PBS station. A visionary partnership between the University of Central Florida and Brevard Community College has given new life to local PBS and kept public broadcasting in Orlando.
Grant J. Heston, UCF's Associate Vice President for Communicatinos and Public Affairs, helped lead the team taht saved public broadcastign in Central Florida. Grant will talk about how UCF and BCC brought WUCF-TV, the region's new and only PBS station, to life and what the future holds for this precious community resource.
Our January luncheon will also include a tour of the new WUCF-TV studios at UCF, PRSA Orlando will also recognize the winner of hte Frank Stansberry Scholarship, which is awarded annually to an exceptional student enrolled in the public relations program at UCF. The event will be held in the WUCF studio located in building 500, as shown on the map.

The PRSA Orlando/Frank R. Stansberry Scholarship provides financial assistance to one full-time University of Central Flroida student majoring in public relations each year. PRSA Orlando recently reached its financial goal of endowing the scholarhsip by raising $25,000, but there is still much more to do.

Parking will be located at the two buildings on either side of the studio. Guests should park close to Research Parkway at the SMCA Building. Secondary parking can be found at building 600. Look for directional signs during the event.
