Event Details

Register to attend an environmental education workshop for charter school educators using the Project WET program. Registration is required to attend the workshop.

Project WET is a multidisciplinary program for elementary, middle, and high school grades that focuses on water resources and associated issues. Hands on activities are used to teach about Florida's water, the aquatic environment, water science and more. It can be used to enhance your STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) programming.

Project WILD is a multidisciplinary program for PreK-12 grades. It features hands-on learning activiites, diferentiated instruction, reading and technology connections, outdoor explorations and can be used to enhance your STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) programming.

This is a combined full day workshop.There is no cost to register or attend this professional development training and this training will qualify for up to 12 instructional hours provided you complete the required follow-up assignment. To claim instructional hours for CEUs or in-service points please check with your school's education coordinator as your county may have requirements that differ from Manatee County.

The Department of Environmental Protection protects and manages Florida's natural resources while enforcing the environmental laws that protect these unique treasures. Overseeing the more than 160 award-winning state parks, the Department is also charged with conserving environmentally-sensitive lands, restoring waterways and preserving the state's historical and cultural resources through Florida Forever.

The Office of Environmental Education seeks to cultivate and support environmental citizenship: the awareness, understanding and appreciation of Florida's environment; and the capacity to think critically and participate constructively in its protection. The Office of Environmental Education’s core program includes outdoor experiential environmental education for middle school students, the annual Florida Green School Awards Program, and summer teacher professional development workshops. In addition, the Office of Environmental Education supports outreach initiatives within the Department of Environmental Protection, including the agency’s annual Earth Day at the Capitol event, as well as regional education efforts such as the Gulf of Mexico Alliance’s Environmental Education
