Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 7:30 PM to 8:45 PM (PDT)
Los Angeles, CA
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Join us as we consider the concept of sustaining an art practice outside of the gallery system. We'll discuss subtopics such as other opportunites - grants & residencies, public engagement, and what to do when you're "inbetween galleries". We'll even tackle the ever enigmatic and elusive idea of patronage.
Kristin Cammermeyer, a recent graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art, makes work which blurs the lines of painting and sculpture, meanwhile addressing questions of location, architecture and the interactive relationship between art and its viewer. She was selected as a Juror's pick by Alma Ruiz, Senior Curator at MOCA, in the 2012 New American Painting's MFA annual issue, which names recent MFA graduates to watch in the coming year.
