The best way to learn web development is to start building web applications. We've designed an experience around doing just that.
This course is focused on building a product. We'll guide you through re-creating our own version of the popular website, Airbnb.
We will build everything together, line-by-line. We end with a working application. No slides, no fluff. Just focused, practical guidance.
Session 1: October 5th & 6th, 10AM - 5PM (both days)
Session 2: October 12th & 13th, 10AM - 5PM (both days)
Trevor McLeod, Brian Falk, and Andy Tzou will be teaching. Please visit NodeLingo to learn more about the instructors.
Saturday, October 5th & Sunday, October 6th
The goal for the first weekend is to introduce and implement patterns for consuming web APIs and displaying data in a simple, clean user interface.
Saturday, October 12th & Sunday, October 13th
During the second weekend, we will dive into server-side web development and engineer our own API. We will be using Node.js to design our back-end. Again, we'll be leveraging prominent tools like Express and MongoDB to build.
The goal for the second weekend is to understand Node.js' event-based architecture and learn how to create RESTful services that accept and respond to web requests.
The patterns we will cover are meant to be replicated across a wide range of domains, and we've carefully chosen each component to be representative of the tasks you'll encounter while building modern web applications.
