Congressman Chuck Fleischmann has been a stead-fast and consistent supporter of our legal system and of access to justice for all Tennesseans, and, indeed, all Americans. As a private practice attorney, Congressman Fleischmann not only actively represented a great number of pro bono clients, he also urged and inspired fellow attorneys to do their part in representing their less-fortunate neighbors in Chattanooga. Before taking office, Congressman Fleischmann also served as Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s Annual Campaign Chair, overseeing Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s, at that time, most successful Annual Campaign ever. For his lifelong commitment to access to justice, Legal Aid of East Tennessee honors Congressman Chuck Fleischmann with the Chief Justice William M. Barker Equal Access to Justice Award.
|The Bruce C. Bailey Volunteer Lawyer of the Year Award looks solely to an attorney’s pro bono accomplishments over the previous year. Last year, Max Bahner agreed to take on the two most challenging, litigation-heavy, and compelling cases seen by Legal Aid of East Tennessee all year. Under his leadership, working closely with fellow attorneys Luke Neder and Stephen Barham, each case was resolved favorably for the client. Legal Aid of East Tennessee is proud to recognize Max Bahner, of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, as the 2013 Bruce C. Bailey Volunteer Lawyer of the Year.|
Miller & Martin PLLC has always been a strong supporter of Legal Aid of East Tennessee. Two of the inductees into the Pro Bono Attorney’s Hall of Fame are Miller & Martin attorneys. Miller & Martin was also the first firm in Chattanooga to offer automatic payroll deductions for their employees to support Legal Aid of East Tennessee. In 2012, Miller & Martin attorneys took part in more legal advice clinics than any other firm. In recognition of their strong, firm-wide commitment to access to justice in Chattanooga, Legal Aid of East Tennessee names Miller & Martin the Pro Bono Firm of the Year.
