Event Details

We've designed Pro Bono day to share, showcase and celebrate New York City’s vast (and growing!) pro bono landscape. Join us for one or two sessions that interest you, or for the whole day - just RSVP for the events you’d like to attend. Full agenda available here.

12:00 - 4:30pm

Pro Bono Lab is a half-day problem solving event in which nonprofits partner with Taproot Foundation pro bono consultants in areas such as HR, Marketing, Strategy and Technology. Together, pro bono consultants and nonprofits will discuss and diagnose a critical challenge facing each nonprofit participant, then scope out a project to help the organization overcome the issue. Nonprofits will leave Pro Bono Lab with a clearer understanding of organizational challenge, a practical plan to address it, and guidance around how to secure pro bono support to tackle the newly-scoped project. Pro Bono Lab takes place from 12:00-4:30pm with the option for attendees to view the exciting pro bono in action behind glass walls throughout the day.

2pm - 3pm

Design for nonprofits isn’t limited to thinking about a new logo or website - user-centered design can become an integral part of an organization’s service offering, define physical space, and improve essential communication with constituents and donors. Hear from designers, nonprofit leaders, and pro bono service providers on what makes a successful design project and why it’s so important to weave design thinking into daily operations.

3:30pm - 4:30pm

Technology is ubiquitous. Technology skills are not. Your nonprofit organization relies on technology more than ever - from your public website to your internal contact management systems. But it is a rare nonprofit that has the in-house skills or resources it needs. So how do you best leverage pro bono technology support? Hear from a panel of tech providers and connectors to understand best practices for turning temporary technology support into long-term impact.

5pm - 6pm

Nonprofits have benefited from corporate employee engagement programs for many years, but leading companies in New York are increasingly creating pro bono programs for their executives and employees to donate professional skills to their nonprofit partners. This panel – made up of CSR leaders from top New York companies – will shine a light on the array of corporate pro bono activity and provide helpful advice to nonprofit leaders about how to leverage it for optimal impact.

6:30pm - 8:30pm

After an exciting day of through-provoking events, it’s time to celebrate! From 6:30pm onward join us for an evening of drinks, networking, and great conversations about all things pro bono. The celebration will also include the opportunity to talk directly with pro bono providers in NYC, as they share more about ways to engage and access the pro bono services available in our community. We’ll have the chance to learn more about the growing pro bono sector from a few leaders in the field while making new connections to support our work and create lasting social change in New York City.
