Renowned historical novelist and musician James McBride digs deep into the core of slavery, the American frontier and the explosive beginnings of the Civil War in his latest novel, “The Good Lord Bird.” An artist with many talents, McBride has written songs for Anita Baker, collaborated on movies with Spike Lee and now comes to Printers Row to talk about all of it with Chicago Tribune arts and jazz critic Howard Reich.
