Preview Event and Wine Tasting for "Africa Is Not A Country" Exhibit
Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM (EDT)
Africa Is Not A Country
Wine tasting, light hors d’oeuvres, silent auction,
and music by Carri Coltrane.
Please join us for a tasting of South African Wines and a preview of Africa Is Not A Country. This is our third wine tasting event to benefit Seacoast African American Cultural Center. Our first two tastings were great fun and we anticipate that this one will be even better. Purchase your tickets now as, like the previous wine tastings, we expect they will sell out quickly!
About the Exhibit:
Over 80 juried photographs from 24 different African countries comprise this outstanding collection of work. The 27 photographers selected to participate hail from as far away as Senegal, South Africa and England, across the United States, and, of course, from New Hampshire. There are landscape scenes, images of people, and shots of wildlife that capture the enticing diversity of this fabulous continent.
Proceeds will support a permanent exhibit to showcase the history of the recently discovered early 18th century African Burying Ground, located just a few blocks from the Cultural Center. This Burying Ground, formerly called the “Negro Burying Ground,” is the only known African Burying Ground that dates as far back as 1705 in all of New England.
