Join us for the next presentation in the Lynette Byarm Lecture Series from the Occupational Therapy Department at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Practical Feeding Tidbits: Medically Based and Family Friendly will offer beginner- and intermediate-level occupational therapists information about:

  • medical systems and conditions that impact the advancement of oral feeding skills
  • how to complete a comprehensive medically based and family-centered evaluation and treatment plan
  • determine optimal treatment interventions, including positioning/seating, promoting self-feeding and use of sensory-based intervention to support functional mealtime participation

Presenters:

Stephanie Hunt Cassidy, MS, OTR/L, Colleen Burrell, OTR/L, and Amy Levin, MS, OTR/L, occupational therapists from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia 

Objectives:

  1. Increase your knowledge of medical systems and conditions that impact the advancement of oral feeding skills.
  2. Learn how to complete a comprehensive medically based and family-centered evaluation and treatment plan.
  3. Develop clinical reasoning skills to determine optimal treatment interventions, including positioning/seating, promoting self-feeding and use of sensory-based intervention to support functional mealtime participation.

CHOP is an approved provider (#4878) of continuing education by The American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA). Three contact hours or 0.3 AOTA CEUs will be awarded to participants at the completion of the program. Assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products or clinical procedures by AOTA.

The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. March 27, 2013, in Room 123 AB, Abramson Research Center, located on CHOP's Main Campus. (34th Street and Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104)
