About the Business Breakfast

Have we got your attention?  We hope so.  The title is not an exaggeration. If your company is like most, the burden of benefit costs is threatening its survival. Death may follow a slow, lingering process of innovation starvation when benefits costs reduce critical investment in personnel or product development.  Organization death may also occur in a sudden loss of market share when expenses eventually prevent your products from being price competitive. Either way, fast or slow, companies that keep traditional benefits will die.

Dr. Lynch will present a lively and interactive conversation demonstrating how compensation and benefits designs have as much influence on employee health (and personal health management) than any health education or behavior change program.  Attendees will hear examples about how to connect pay, time-off, consumer-directed plan design and performance measurement to optimize business outcomes and motivate employees.  Using illustrations of incentives and benefits design, Wendy will explore how the current employer-sponsored healthcare system creates perverse incentives that actually discourage healthy behaviors and encourage benefits utilization.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Align incentives to increase employee performance
  • Design compensation and time off policies to optimize attendance and retention
  • Structure health benefits such that costs are reduced and consumerism increases
