INTRODUCTION: Don't Throw The Baby Out With The Bathwater!
Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed during your pregnancy or the birth of your baby? You're not alone! According to Postpartum Support International (PSI) postpartum depression is the 1 complication from childbirth. Research shows that 50% - 70% of newborn moms and 10% of newborn dads will experience some type of postpartum mood disorder. This disorder can occur anytime in pregnancy or during the first year after giving birth. Some women experience depression while others have extreme anxiety.
Baptist Health's Women's Services offers a FREE support group for mothers of newborns (biological or adoptive) who are experiencing any type of pregnancy or postpartum mood issue. This may include but is not limited to: sadness tearfulness excessive worry difficulty sleeping changes in appetite irritability lack of bonding anxiety and any other change in mood or behavior. Here you will receive support from others with similar experiences as well as be taught skills to help alleviate symptoms.
This will be an on-going group held inside the Williams YMCA. There is no charge but space is limited so please register each time you wish to attend.
You do not have to be a Baptist Health patient-all are welcome to attend our group!
This 1.5 hour session is held from 6:30-8:00 pm. See calendar for specific dates.
This group is for any mother experiencing Perinatal Mood
