Highway Personnel are Invited to

Post Flood Stream Intervention Training

Dutchess County Soil & Water Conservation District in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Lower Hudson Coalition of Conservation Districts are offering a FREE training for highway personnel and contractors who perform work in stream settings. The purpose of the Post Flood Stream Intervention Training is to increase knowledge and improve decision-making ability when working in streams immediately after a flood.

Participants will be trained in stream science and will learn about proper restoration techniques that protect infrastructure, property, stream banks and natural ecosystems.  Equipment operators will learn the tools to conduct smart work that eliminates or reduces the need to go back and repair mistakes and saving valuable resources.

The training will be held in two separate sessions. The first session is a daylong classroom session and the second is a 4 hour field session that will be held the last week in April and/or the last week in May.  A list of attendees that complete both sessions of the training will be compiled and shared with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
