What is Chew Dat and Kid's Rethink New Orleans Schools?
Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools is an organization that supports transformational leadership amongst New Orleans youth. The Rethinkers, as their members are called, have been working since 2006 to make systemic changes in education. These young leaders have done everything from putting on creative news conferences about issues in their schools to negotiating with a major corporation to improve the quality of school lunches.
Chew Dat is a creative cooking competition that the Rethinkers hold annually to support programs that serve over 100 youth. Incorporating a single, fresh secret ingredient into each dish, teams will prepare an elaborate three course meal, beginning with a crowd pleaser that will be voted on by the audience. A panel of Rethinkers and esteemed local chefs will evaluate the entree and dessert courses on a scale of 1 to 10. The team with the most points will win a gigantic golden spork and the tile of Chew Dat Champions.
As a member of team My House I am trying to raise $1000 by here. I would also appreciate it if you could share the link on social media with anyone who you think would be interested in supporting youth voice in New Orleans. . You can support my team by making a donation on my team website,
