Political Dress shows how fashion can serve as a political statement. In Communist times, bright colors and tailoring were a personal weapon against the dullness of everyday life. Poland's subversive style odyssey lasted 45 years, culminating in a variety of personal style choices that are unique and highly expressive. (Click on the photo to view the trailer.)
The film is part of the Guide to Poles documentary series, comprised of films surveying Polish culture.

Polish Filmmakers NYC
Polish Filmmakers NYC is devoted to bringing the best in Polish cinema past and present to New York City audiences. Since 2012, the organization has hosted regular and special screenings, including the New York premiere of Andrej Wadja's Walesa: Man of Hope and our annual Polish Women in Film series.
The 2014 Polish Women in Film Series: New Voices, Ancient Echoes will be held from November 7th to 9th at the Tribeca Film Center. It will kick off with an invitation-only opening night at the Museum of Modern Art on November 6th.
