This session will be held at the same time as the Walker ranch summer picnic evening program "Heritage Day: A living history" and volunteers at that event will be dressed in period costumes. Twelve years and older are welcome, unaccompanied by a parent, and children 3-11 are welcome to attend with parental supervision. This session is meant for those applying to the Outdoor Creations - A 2014 Boulder County Juried Art Show.
This is not a class. The artists leading the session will available for support and guidance as you create your work.

About The Leaders
Growing up outside of Chicago, IL, Karen’s education and inspiration in fine art started in high school with her teacher William Florence. Here she developed a strong foundation of the basics. After high school she took a different path becoming a nurse and moved to Colorado with her family. With her three boys now grown, she is finding more time to return and build upon the foundation she began years ago. Over the last few years she has studied with several great artist/mentors, Scott Christensen, Jill Soukup, Kim English and Kevin Weckback.
Part of the reason Karen uprooted to Colorado was to enjoy the scenic landscapes, so it is no wonder you will often find her painting outside on location. She also enjoys painting still-lives, animals and people in setting. Karen is a member of Oil Painters of America (OPA), American Impressionist Society (AIS) and Plein Air Painters of Colorado (PAAC).
After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in painting, Sharon Solomon began her 30-year career as a graphic designer and illustrator. In recent years, Sharon has dedicated herself full-time to painting landscapes and figures using oils, mostly in Colorado and Massachusetts. She has lived in Boulder since 1987. Her transcendent and meditative paintings depict recognizable places using closely observed color and natural structure. The astounding resource of Boulder County Open Space provides her with a never ending opportunity to directly observe and paint changing light and color in the natural world. Sharon has studied with Michelle Philip, Doug Dawson and Scott Jennings among others. She is a member of the Plein Air Artists of Colorado, the Art Students League of Denver, and the Cape Cod Art Association. Her studio is located at 2810 Wilderness Place and her artwork can be viewed at www.sharonsolomonstudio.com.
