STAR Sharing Treatment and Autism Resources

 

Parents and caregivers will learn how to join and expand their child's play to promote higher levels of engagement and learning. 

 

Presenters:  

Kerry Buechler, BA

Becky Zimmerman, BS

 

Kerry Buechler has worked with preschool aged children on the autism spectrum at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) since 2007.  Her roles have included classroom teacher, individual interventionist, coach and provider of in-home parent training.

 

Becky Zimmerman has worked on various research projects since joining the CARD team in 2008.  She is currently a research assistant and interventionist in the Early Achievements classroom for toddlers on the autism spectrum, she provides parent training and in-home coaching.

 

Both Kerry and Becky are Master's candidates in Early Childhood Special Education at the John Hopkins University and will graduate in 2012.

 

Audience:  Parents, family members and professionals

The Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) at Kennedy Krieger Institute is a multifaceted, interdisciplinary program serving children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), their families, and professionals in the community.  We base our services and trainings on evidenced-based practices.  One of our major endeavors is to develop new models of effective care that can be distributed to families and care providers on a national and international level.
