NYCCGC has long appreciated your support of community gardens, parks and public open spaces. We thank your representation and activism on environmental and social justice issues in our diverse city.
The New York City Community Garden Coalition (NYCCGC) and our growing allies are hosting an all-day mayoral forum and grassroots organizing event at Cooper Union's Great Hall on Saturday, April 27th, 2013.
We look forward to having you join us and share your input and participation in this forum. We are putting together a mayoral questionnaire, designing afternoon workshops, and organizing the many responsibilities of the running of the forum. We’d love your help!
The Next Planning Meeting is this coming Tuesday Feb 19th at 6pm at the
GrowNYC offices 49 Chamber Street New York, New York 10007, Room 214
Please let us know as soon as you can if you are coming and want to participate.
Here's some background on us and what we are planning:
NYCCGC is an all volunteer community gardener membership group, representing our city's over 15,000 community gardeners. Our mission is to promote the preservation of our city's community gardens, to help communities find more gardens, and to empower our communties, through education, advocacy, and grassroots organizing.
Our annual forum this year will be co-sponsored by many grassroots environmental and people's rights groups, highlighting the overlaps between community gardens and other health, environmental, and social justice issues including hunger, democratic use of public land, food sovereignty, and food justice.
All mayoral candidates will be invited to give statements on their support of community gardens.
We will also be hosting workshops and break-out groups in the afternoon.
Our next meeting will be proposed for Thursday March the 7th, 6pm
Thanks so much for what you do.
Peas and Justice,
NYCCGC Forum Committee
