About Kathy Wahlbin
Kathy Wahlbin has been working in the field of accessibility since 2001 and is an invited expert for the W3C WCAG 2.0 Working Group, Mobile Accessibility Task Force and WCAG 2.0 Evaluation Methodology Task Force. Kathy will discuss the changing landscape of accessibility and its impact on business today. She will demonstrate some of the assistive technologies used by people with disabilities and discuss their emerging role in user experience and inclusive design. Kathy will also delve into the changes to the ADA and Section 508 that are coming in 2014 and how they will affect web development and the considerations for today’s businesses. Moreover, she will discuss how accessibility mitigates legal risk and exposure. Finally, she will look at some of the basic development techniques that, when followed, can have a big impact on the accessibility of a website.
