Talking 101: How to Pitch Your Project, Sell Your Strengths, and Explain To Your Parents What You Do For a Living

A Writer's Workshop with Laura Brennan

If only a writer's life were all about writing! In Hollywood, talking - from pitching a project to taking a meeting - is king. And most of us are terrible at talking about our work, whether it's to Uncle Ed at Thanksgiving or to a potential agent or producer with a deal on the line.

But pitching is just a skill most of us have never learned. This workshop makes it easy.

This will be a hands-on pitching workshop; everyone will leave with at least one logline for either themselves or for a project, or both. We'll talk about setting up people's expectations, speaking to your strengths, elevator pitches (and what to say when they ask to hear more), and developing a purpose-driven conversation. Come prepared to roll up your sleeves and pitch!

"It's the insider experience that teaches what no other course in Hollywood does - how to be the job once you get the job."

~Jennifer Maisel, Related

"Laura teaches you to sell fire in hell."

~Nikki Toscano, Revenge

"In addition to being the queen of pitching, Laura is a natural teacher. She has tremendous insight into the strengths and weaknesses of stories and can capture their essence with amazing finesse. Any opportunity to learn from her is one not to be missed."
