ABOUT SHARON SCHNEIDER
Sharon Schneider is the Co-Founder and CEO of Moxie Jean, an e-commerce site that makes it super easy and fun for stylish moms to discover, buy, and sell high quality, like new baby and kids’ clothes. Moxie Jean won COMMON Pitch NYC to be crowned “best collaborative consumption startup” and has been featured on the TODAY Show, Fox’s “Good Day Chicago,” Mashable, GOOD, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Huffington Post, Daily Candy, iVillage and many others. Moxie Jean is a 2012 portfolio company of the prestigious Excelerate Labs business accelerator. Sharon is a member of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's Tech Diversity Council, whose mission is to ensure that leadership and job opportunities are available for all Chicagoans and that the city’s technology community reflects the diversity and vitality of the city itself. Prior to founding Moxie Jean, Sharon was Philanthropic Director at Foundation Source, where she worked with private foundations and high net worth families to accomplish their philanthropic goals, particularly through social enterprise and impact investing. Sharon holds an MA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA (summa cum laude) from the University of Toledo.
ABOUT THE PIPELINE FELLOWSHIP
The Pipeline Fellowship, an angel investing bootcamp for women philanthropists, works to increase diversity in the U.S. angel investing community and creates capital for women social entrepreneurs.
The Pipeline Fellowship’s three main criteria are:
a) Meeting one of the accredited investor definitions
(i.e., US$200K in income or US$300K joint income with spouse for the past two years, or US$1M net worth)
b) Interest in group learning model
c) Passion for philanthropy and/or social change
For most of the Pipeline Fellows, this is their first angel investment. They are attracted by the program’s three components (education, mentoring, practice) and benefit from the diversity of each cohort. Pipeline Fellows are intergenerational (ranging from late twenties to 60+) and come from a variety of professional backgrounds.
