Pink Book Traning: Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases

Program Description: This live two-day course provides a comprehensive review of immunization, vaccine-preventable diseases and their respective vaccines.  The course will provide the most up-to-date immunization information from the ACIP including:

  • Principles of Vaccination
  • General Recommendations of Immunization
  • Vaccine recommendations for pertussis, haemophilus influenzae type b, influenza, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, pneumococcal, polio, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, meningococcal, human papillomavirus, and zoster
  • Vaccine Safety
  • Current Issues

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the difference between active and passive immunity.
  2. List two characteristics of live attenuated vaccines.
  3. List two characteristics of inactivated vaccines.
  4. For each vaccine-preventable disease, identify those for whom routine immunization is recommended.
  5. For each vaccine-preventable disease, describe characteristics of the vaccine used to prevent the disease.
  6. Describe an emerging immunization issue.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates this LIVE ACTIVITY for a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Non-physicians will receive a certificate of participation.
