Pilsner Beer Tasting Event
Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (PDT)
Pilsner has a long global history, and is an unsung hero of brewing industry. Come join us at the Barrel Head Brewhouse for a pilsner tasting and talk hosted by Rich Higgins Master Cicerone.
You will have the opportunity to taste and compare a flight of great pilsners, including IMPOSSIBLE to get very rare Pilsner Urquell kellerbier, being personally flown in from the Brewery un-filtered and un-pasteurized.
Flights will be offered at the bar and restaurant until beers are out after the event until the beer runs outJ
Way more than skunky lagers and pallid industrial suds, pilsner is a delicious, nuanced style with many regional sub-styles. Higgins has curated a special list of pilsners spanning regions and centuries, allowing guests to learn about and taste the differences among the original pilsner brewed in Pilzn, an unfiltered pilsner that Czech brewers drink straight from the tanks, a Munich pilsner brewed with different hops and water than the Czech original, a rural German pils that won the gold medal at World Beer Cup 2014, plus two contemporary interpretations of where pilsner is headed in the American craft beer scene, including one inspired by rustic German farmhouse beer.
