About Pig Island 2012: New York City will celebrate September with the porcine food event of 2012: Pig Island! Building on the success of Pig Island 2010 and 2011, Pig Island 2012 is an all-local event, featuring farmers, chefs, brewers and vintners, bringing the best of New York State to New York City. Pig Island 2012 will source 80 hogs from NY farmers, prepared by 25 top NYC chefs. This farm/food collaboration will be complemented by specialty craft beer by Sixpoint Brewery and NY wine, cooking demonstrations, and opportunities to see the best of New York in action. Pig Island 2012 will take place on September 1st, from 11:30am - 4:30pm, on Governors Island’s historic Colonel’s Row.
