Event Details

Professional photographer and teacher Nate Donovan will lead you on this unique walk to experience and photograph the sun setting and the moon rising over Edgewood County Park and Natural Preserve. You will learn tips and tricks for using your camera to capture the landscape under the unusual lighting conditions of sunset and moonrise, while enjoying stunning views of Mt. Diablo, the Hamilton Range, the Bay, and the Santa Cruz Mountains.

This walk covers approximately 3 miles of trails of moderately sloping terrain. Bring water, a hat, sturdy shoes, and clothing appropriate to the late afternoon weather. You are welcome to bring a snack to enjoy. This walk is geared to adults, but capable, attentive children 10 years and older are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Rain or thick cloud cover cancels.

In addition to your camera equipment, it is recommended that you bring a tripod.

Meet at the Clarkia Trailhead on Canada Road. If you are coming along I-280, exit at Edgewood Road and head west toward the mountains. Turn left at Canada Road and continue under the freeway overpass. Park on the dirt strip on the freeway side of Canada Road just south of the I-280 onramp.

Please visit Friends of Edgewood for information about other events at Edgewood County Park and Natural Preserve.
