Over the years many companies have introduced training programs and certifications that were little more than a sales pitch. At the same time there is a large number of Assistants and Digital techs working with Phase One products everyday. There is a strong connection between the impression customers have of Phase One products and their experiences using them. Therefore if we can train these Assistants and Techs to better use and support Phase One products then we will have a happier and more successful user base.
This program is designed to teach assistants and digital techs the skills they need to get the most out of Phase One equipment and software. We believe this presents an excellent opportunity to drive sales by creating an educated client, dedicated brand ambassadors, and a stronger presence within the industry.
What is the Certification process? The certification process is based on 2 steps: 1. Qualification. Following registration, complete the online pre-course. The course was developed by Phase One and is an essential part of understanding the information taught at live training. 2. Live training. Attend an official Phase One Certification Training course and pass the written exam at the end. Students who pass the certification test at training will be listed on our website in the Certified Professional database.
Who is it for? The program is for working digital techs and assistants who are already well versed in digital workflow. Photographers with high production workflow and strong digital knowledge can benefit as well. It is not for the inexperienced assistant, advanced enthusiast, portrait or wedding photographer. Students need to know Capture One fairly well. If they are not qualified then it slows the pace of the class down and limits its effectiveness.
What is covered in the training? The course is 50% Capture One and 50% Medium format camera systems. The curriculum is based on professional digital tech workflow. If students are only interested in Capture One, then this may not be the course for them. • Technology behind Phase One backs and cameras. • Recommended set-ups and usage. • Troubleshooting computers, backs and cameras. • Advanced On-set Capture One workflow – Sessions vs Catalogs • Advanced operation of Phase One backs.
Pre-course & Test The pre-course is a combination of articles and test that must be completed prior to attending an event. Students who do not complete the pre-course will be asked to wait until the next event. The Pre-course covers: 1. Digital back technology, set up and operation. 2. Capture One concepts and tools. 3. Phase One Camera body and lens setup and usage.
Certification exam: 30 multiple-choice questions, closed book, must score an 80% or higher (24/30).
Retests are offered at a later date for $49 and the student will take a similar but different test.
Materials Students will have access to a PDF of the presentation, other reference documents and scripts, as well as sample files. In addition they will receive a Special digital tech edition troubleshooting and reference guide.
Certification Perks • Phase One certification diploma and stickers • Listing One Phase One Site • Capture One Pro License (New Attendees only) • Troubleshooting guide • Special private forum access on Phase One forum • Certification is valid for 2 years
Refunds and Cancellations: Refunds can be offered if the end user cannot attend and has not activated a Capture One License. If they have activated a Capture One license then all but the cost ($299) can be refunded. Refunds will only be issued to those canceling the course prior to March 1st. If you fail to provide email notification less than 48 hours prior to the class all monies will be forfeit and you will not receive a refund. Due the involved planning and pre-course testing we cannot find a replacement for your seat after August 29th. A minimum of 10 students is needed to run this course. If that minimum is not met students will be notified by August 29th and full refunds will be issued. We do not take responsibility for non-refundable airline tickets, so please buy a refundable ticket if you are coming from outside of San Francisco.
