Peter Lamb & The Wolves
Join PLATW and Motorco in celebrating the release of their new album Humble Pie!
Peter Lamb & The Wolves has been voted the Triangles Best Jazz Band for two years in a row (2011, 2012) by Indy Week.
Peter Lamb & the Wolves is a North Carolina-based band formed by saxophonist Peter Lamb in 2008. The music features strange eclectic melodies and sounds from around the world, combined with a funky New Orleans groove. The Quintet includes: Piano player Mark Wells from Apple Juice Orchestra; trumpet player Al Strong, Professor of Trumpet at NC Central and Shaw; and drummer Stephen Coffman and bassist Peter Kimosh who both can also be heard playing with the Beast. Their first CD, self titled Peter Lamb & The Wolves was released in December 2010.
Peter Lamb & The Wolves second album will be titled after the place where the band first played together, Humble Pie. Our goal is not to just record an album that sounds great (though we do want to record an album that does sound great - and we will)... We want Humble Pie to be pleasing to the eye as well as to the ear. This will be our timestamp in history and we hope to create something that will still be interesting if picked up when we're all going to work and the store in aerocars.
Humble Pie will include some existing tunes that we have arranged in our own way as well as some originals written by various members of the band; meaning some will require us to purchase rights and some won't. Some of the recordings will be done live and others will be captured in a studio. We will be using the amazing Dave Tilley as our Recording Engineer. He recorded our first album live at Marsh Woodwinds in front of a raucous audience and it turned out to be not to shabby. :) Dave uses older microphones, electronics and recording techniques when engineering records. He prefers to mix records using an analog console and vacuum-tube electronics. This process of working manually can take longer than using a computer with digital audio software, but the results sound great and are worth the extra effort!!
