Event Details

The Bronx Writers Center, a program of the Bronx Council on the Arts

presents a special four-week hands-on master class led by

Award-winning writer and teacher, Linda Manning.

Meets Saturday April 6, 13, 20, 27, 11am-1pm

Pay only $125* for 8 hours of small-group instruction,** discussion and support.

Participants will be invited to read at a September celebration of Bronx Writers and their work will be included in an anthology.

Linda Manning, award-winning screenwriter, playwright and performer, will lead a four week workshop on writing the screenplay you have always wanted to write.  The one that has been rolling around in your thoughts, tugging at your heart, and trying to get out, but hasn't found it's way onto paper yet.  At the end of four weeks you will have a detailed, structured outline from which to begin your first draft.  We will study genre, character, plot, and breakdown the traditional three act structure of screenplays.  We will do writing exercises in class, and analyze current films.  Every week there will be homework in order to build upon your developing outline.  And perhaps most importantly, we will work on developing your individual writer's voice, and illuminating the story that you want to tell.

Each student will receive a packet that includes what is coverd in the class, tips, techniques, and a select bibliography compiled expressly for writers.

*No money taken at door. Participants must pre-pay.

**Class capped at 15.  Will not run with less than 5 enrolled.
