Performance @ MOCA presents Landscape by Jillian Mayer.
"Since the late 15th century, Japanese Zen Gardens have been utilized as private places to silently mediate on the true meaning of life. Originally used by monks and only visible from one vantage point, these enclosed squares represented a natural space where solitary users would rake white sand and rocks into line patterns representing ripples in water and other formations."
Jillian Mayer will update this metaphor to reflect a more contemporary form in digital meditation.
