Event Details

PechaKucha Miami partners with the Bakehouse Art Complex for an inspirational evening exploring resilience with seven local luminaries including Constance Collins with Lotus House and Virgina Jacko with Miami Lighthouse for the Blind & Visually Impaired, Inc. Arrive at 7PM for socializing while DJ Andie Sweetswirl provides the beats.  Then at 8PM the PechaKucha starts with back-to-back presentations.

Resilience is defined...

Resilience is that ineffable quality that allows some people to be knocked down by life and come back stronger than ever. Rather than letting failure overcome them and drain their resolve, they find a way to rise from the ashes. Psychologists have identified some of the factors that make someone resilient, among them a positive attitude, optimism, the ability to regulate emotions, and the ability to see failure as a form of helpful feedback. Even after a misfortune, blessed with such an outlook, resilient people are able to change course and soldier on.

PechaKucha Nights are informal and fun gatherings where creative people get together and share their ideas, works, thoughts, holiday snaps -- just about anything, really -- in the PechaKucha 20x20 format. The presentation format was devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein Dytham architecture. The first PechaKucha Night was held in Tokyo in their gallery/lounge/bar/club/creative kitchen, SuperDeluxe, in February, 2003. Klein Dytham architecture still organize and support the global PechaKucha Night network and organize PechaKucha Night Tokyo.
