JOIN JUSTIN: The Peace Run is coming to Long Beach June 8 and will honor Justin Rudd. Public invited to run the 4-mile route (at no charge) with international runners representing nine nations, as Long Beach resident Justin Rudd carries the Peace Torch from Belmont Shore to the Lion's Lighthouse for the award ceremony.
Long Beach, June 8, 2014 -- The Peace Run initiative will be hosting an honorary Peace Run event on Sunday, June 8 at 8:30 a.m. in Long Beach, Calif. The run will begin on the beach bike path behind the outdoor Belmont Pool, located near Rosie’s Dog Beach. The team will run 4 miles along Ocean Blvd. and down Shoreline Dr. to the Lions Lighthouse (up on the hill) past Shoreline Village and the Aquarium of the Pacific. The public is invited to run with our honoree Justin Rudd who will be carrying the Peace Run torch, along with a team of international runners representing nine nations. #PeaceRun
Bicyclists are welcome to ride behind the runners.
After the 4-mile run, the Peace Run ceremony will begin approx. 9:15 a.m. at the Lighthouse. Everyone is welcome to meet at the Lighthouse to join the ceremony. After the ceremony, runners can join Justin Rudd to run back to the start area via the beach bike path.
The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run is a global torch relay that symbolizes humanity’s universal aspiration for a more harmonious world. The Peace Run does not seek to raise money or highlight any political cause, but simply strive to create goodwill among people of all nations. This year the North American run is covering over 10,200 miles on a route through 40 US states, Mexico and Canada.
WHY IS JUSTIN RUDD BEING HONORED?
Justin Rudd is being awarded with the Torch-Bearer Award from the Peace Run organization for his countless efforts in the City of Long Beach and contribution to local causes. Justin Rudd founded and directs the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization called the Community Action Team (CAT). He organizes 62 community events, contests, and programs annually within the community. Justin Rudd along with other public figures, such as Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Carl Lewis, and countless others have led efforts to create a harmonious world. Peace Run founder Sri Chinmoy believed Peace begins in the heart of each individual. So, on this day, Justin Rudd will be honored.
