Collaborative partnerships are crucial to reaching your goals; but great working relationships require special knowledge and skills. Join this four-session workshop to develop the shared practices that can take your collaboration to the next level. Through a series of exercises and discussions, this course will help you build a more effective and satisfying partnership.
The course will continue on Thursday afternoons (1:00-3:30) Oct 17, Oct 31, Nov 14 and Nov 21. Program is limited to 6 business partnerships to provide individualized support. If you’d like to attend, both you and your business partner need to be able to attend the entire series and have an intro phone call with program leader, Sunny Sabbini.

Format will be very interactive with structured activities and dialogue with your business partner, group debrief and discussion, and lecture/discussion.
Who Should Attend:
This series is designed for business partners, co-directors, and/or co-founders.
Breakdown of Each Session:
Introductory session: Assessing your organizational strengths and weaknesses. This will be a chance to meet other potential participants, talk about your needs, and learn about the 4-session series to see if it will be a good fit for you. A portion of our time will also be spent in you doing an exercise to get more clarity about your business partnership overall. You will have a chance to independently evaluate various areas of your organizational and partnership capacity before discussing together and jointly determining priorities of what is most important to address and bolster. Note for this intro session as well as all that follow, it is essential that you attend with your business partner.
Session 1: Relationship vision and goals. The focus for this session is on each of your visions about the partnership, purpose, and mission in general to identify and discuss area of divergence. We will also look at your complementarity – how to harness your individual strengths, and balance and compensate for individual weaknesses within the partnership.
Session 2: Using conflict and differences constructively. In this session, we cover how interpersonal neurobiology affects your working relationship. You will have the opportunity to explore how to leverage areas of conflict to get to a stronger alignment with one another.
Session 3: How to effectively structure your work together. This session is dedicated to defining your spheres of influence, examining your agreements from implicit to explicit, and creating a decision rule and gradient of agreement for joint decision-making now and going forward.
Session 4: Practices for sustaining your ideal work relationship. In this session, you will start to identify ongoing practices that contribute to a hardy, resilient and collaborative relationship over time. We will also the focus on your expenditures of energy, balancing individual needs with the business needs, and building in self-care and sustainability.

About Sunny Sabbini
Sunny Sabbini, MA, MFT, is a Collaboration Consultant. Sunny brings her training as a psychotherapist, mediator, and organizational development consultant to her work of co-creating healthy human systems. She has been consulting to mission-driven organizations since 1999. Her grassroots, nonprofit clients have included the Green Party of California, Center for Social Innovation (Stanford University), First 5 San Francisco, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, City of Fremont – Human Rights Commission, the Youth Leadership Initiative. Her clients in social enterprise come from areas such as tech start-up, the arts, and environmental design. Sunny’s goal is to create collaborative, high-performance teams, partnerships, and leaders. Through to team development, individual and leadership coaching, and relationship coaching, Sunny works with mission-driven organizations to build their capacity to work collaboratively and achieve meaningful and complex goals.
