Hosted at 2011 Chicago Innovation Awards winner Red Frog Events, this event will feature talks by innovation leaders who have been winners of the Chicago Innovation Awards, and a few special guests.

Jeffrey S. Aronin, CEO, Paragon Pharmaceuticals
Jeffrey S. Aronin is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Paragon Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical investment firm. Mr. Aronin was Chief Executive Officer of Lundbeck Inc. from 2009-2010, a global pharmaceutical company which acquired Ovation Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in March 2009. He was President and CEO of Ovation Pharmaceuticals, a bio pharmaceutical company he founded from 2000-2009.
Prior to founding Ovation Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Aronin was CEO of Medcare, a publicly held healthcare company. Prior to that he assumed various marketing and business development roles at American Health and Carter Wallace.
Sarah Neukom, Producer of Positivity, Red Frog Events
As the Producer of Positivity at Red Frog Events, Sarah Neukom proudly represents the company in a number of roles ranging from Red Frog Ambassador to Warrior Dash Race Director. Starting as an Event Coordinator in September 2010 and hired as a full time “Frog” in January 2011, Sarah has had the opportunity to witness the overwhelming growth of the company first hand. Prior to moving to Chicago for Red Frog in 2010, Sarah worked as a Fundraising and Event Specialist for four years at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. She graduated from Bates College in 2005 with a degree in Sociology.
Mark F O’Connell, President and CEO, SAVO
Mark is a results-driven, highly successful leader in the global technology and software industry with more than 30 years of experience in marketing, finance, strategy, business development and executive management. He has led high technology organizations in the pursuit of significant growth, international expansion and evolution.
Prior to joining the SAVO Group, Mark served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of MatrixOne, Mark led the company to exponential growth in sales and revenue, established a world-class management team and led two rounds of venture financing and an Initial Public Offering (IPO). His vision and leadership transformed the organization into the industry leader in product lifecycle management software and services, resulting in a growth in sales from less than $20 million to $145 million and an eventual sale of the company for more than $400 million. Prior to joining MatrixOne, Mark was President and CEO of Supply Scape Corporation, a leading software provider to the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry. He has also held positions at Digital Equipment Corporation.
Nancy Ruscheinski, Chief Innovation Officer and Global Vice Chair, Edelman
As newly appointed Chief Innovation Officer and Global Vice Chair, Nancy is responsible for driving innovation for the firm and its clients on a global basis. Her remit includes elevating the firm’s Content offering, socializing a new approach to “transmedia storytelling” with teams and clients, introducing new products, exploring innovative external partnerships, and fostering a culture of innovation that promotes bottom-up sourcing and sharing of ideas within the firm.
Nancy is also senior counselor to a variety of clients, including Darden, Kraft Foods, United Airlines, Quaker and SC Johnson, and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Nancy chairs the firm’s Innovation Subcommittee.
Prior to Nancy’s appointment to CIO on 7/1/11, she spent three years as President and Chief Operating Officer for Edelman in the U.S. During this time Nancy played a leading role in the oversight of Edelman’s largest region, with more than 2,000 employees, a robust portfolio of blue chip clients and more than a dozen practice areas. In this capacity, Nancy also drove many of the region’s business development efforts and provided management oversight for multiple geographies, practices and operating units. She oversaw Edelman’s acquisition of Vollmer, doubling the size of Edelman’s business in Texas and adding a Houston office for the firm.
Tom Kuczmarski, Co-founder, Chicago Innovation Awards; President, Kuczmarski & Associates
Thomas Kuczmarski is founder and president of Kuczmarski & Associates, an international consulting firm specializing in innovation strategy and building a culture of innovation in organizations. For the past 30 years, as an adjunct professor, he has taught innovation and new products and services at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is the Academic Director and currently teaches three different courses there: Managing New Products and Services for Strategic Competitive Advantage, Creating A Culture of Innovation, and New Leadership For An Innovative Edge. He has written 6 books on innovation and leadership: Innovation, Innovating the Corporation, Managing New Products, Values-Based Leadership, Apples Are Square: Thinking Differently about Leadership. His latest book is Innovating Chicago Style: How Local Innovators are Building the National Economy. He is a columnist for Bloomberg BusinessWeek on innovation and co-founded the Chicago Innovation Awards in 2002. He earned an MBA and a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University in New York.
Harper Reed, CTO, Obama for America
Harper Reed is awesome. He exists in the wonderful Chicago, Il where he helps startups start and technology techno. In a previous life, Harper was the CTO of the amazing Threadless.com, where he helped build the technology to grow a small t-shirt company into a crowdsourcing beast. As an engineer, Harper is very interested in real time social software, civic data hacking and the future of the social internet. Michael Krauss is a veteran business advisor, strategic planner and organizational coach with over 30 years of “hands-on” professional experience.
