Please join Relay Graduate School of Education and Teach For America for dinner and an unique professional development opportunity for school leaders and teachers of teachers!
Over the past five years, Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay GSE) has achieved remarkable results in New York and New Jersey by having master instructors like Doug Lemov, Julie Jackson, and Dave Levin do what they do best: teach teachers to be highly effective. Relay GSE’s Managing Director in Newark James Verrilli and our stellar Assistant Professor of Practice, Antoinette Koram will guide a 90 minute workshop focused on key strategies for facilitating adult learning effectively. Participants will learn two effective strategies Relay GSE professors use in order to teach their graduate students techniques they can implement in their classrooms.
The first strategy is known as the "meta moment", which participants will learn to incorporate into their session plans to improve their modeling of effective instructional techniques. The second strategy is known as "Instructional Ratio", which will help participants improve their sessions and increase teacher engagement.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify uses of effective “meta moments” in video clips
- Modify a session plan to incorporate a "meta moment"
- Practice and receive feedback on delivering a "meta moment"
- Describe at least four different types of instructional ratio and reflect on how to improve instructional plans by finding the right balance for your adult audience.
