AGS Alumni Association cordially invites you to our free continuing professional workshop, "Parents and Children: An Adlerian Approach to the Relationship" The workshop is a 6 hour experience (Board of Marriage & Family Therapy pre-approved CEUs).
The workshops will be presented in the Art Therapy Studio room #232 on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 9:00 PM-4:00 PM.

About the presenter:
Ken Traft, MA, LMFT, CISA has worked as a counselor/volunteer with over 12 years working with individuals, couples, and families involved in Hennepin County Child Protection cases. Ken currently serves as an alumni executive committee member and is actively involved in the AGS Alumni Association. He also volunteers as a mentor to graduate students. Ken also works as an IT Professional with over 35 years work experience and holds a certificate in Human and Organizational Development from Adler Graduate School.
Part 1 – The presentation explains why this is an Adlerian approach, the materials to be used working with the parents
Part 2 – Knowing yourself presents the approach to helping parents understand themselves so as to be able to separate their stuff from their work in dealing with their children
Part 3– Using Adlerian ideas of behavior and the simple approach of “Ages and Stages”, giving the parents ways to understand and work with their children. There will be places through the workshop where a dialogue can take place for the presenter and participants to share their insights and wisdom gained from their practices.

Part 4– Continuing “Ages and Stages.
Parts 5– Expanding on Adlerian approaches of parents working with children and themselves.
Parts 6– The participants will go through some new tools and exercises and ideas with some hands on use and engage in more dialogue with the presenter and the rest of the participants to share experiences and provide other diverse ideas.
Key learning points:
The 3 part workshop presents an approach the participants can use in working with parents through a workshop presentation or one-on-one with the professional and parents and/or children. Refer to outline above. A questionnaire will be presented at the end of the workshop for the participants to evaluate their learning experience.
