Parenting Anxious Children (5 - 10 years old)

This talk will provide an overview of obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, separation anxiety, social anxiety and panic disorder. Learn about causes of childhood anxiety and factors that contribute to its maintenance. Strategies for home and school will be explored with emphasis on the role that parents can play in supporting their child.
Heather Taylor, Ph.D.
Dr. Taylor is a licensed psychologist whose clinical areas of interest include adoption, attention and behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and a variety of anxiety disorders. In addition to conducting neuropsychological evaluations, she enjoys providing parent training to families of children with attention, anxiety, behavioral, and/or developmental disorders, as well as working individually with children and adolescents.

The Morrissey-Compton Educational Center, Inc. is a nonprofit, private corporation founded in 1982 by Dr. Patricia Morrissey and Dr. Carolyn Compton. Dr. John Brentar is the Executive Director. The agency provides both diagnostic and treatment services for children and adults with learning disabilities, as well as professional consultation to agencies and community organizations.
