Warren Township Youth Services provides a variety of parenting and adult groups and workshops.
None of the programs provide certificates of completion and no one is mandated to receive services. Limited childcare is offered for some program and must be requested at the time of the registration. PARENTING & COUPLES SKILL GROUPS
PARENTING THE ADHD CHILD—A positive approach to understanding your ADHD child
This 4 week program presents information about ADHD, embracing its strengths, common challenges and useful approaches to parenting. Parents will be encouraged to openly discuss their challenges and try new strategies in the home. The group is facilitated by Jasmine Sauls, LMFT.

MIND-BODY SKILLS GROUP— Practical skills to deal with life’s stressors
This experiential group gives participants tools for self-care to deal with such issues as stress, anxiety, depression, grief or pain management. Participants will learn and practice such skills as mindfulness, meditation, and understanding emotions. The group is intended to be supportive, but is not a replacement for therapy. This group will be facilitated by Heidi Droessler, LCSW.

POSITIVE DISCIPLINE—A practical approach to parenting children 3-13

MENTAL ILLNESS SUPPORT & EDUCATION GROUPS
The groups are nationally recognized programs for individuals with family members living with mental illness. The BASIC Group is for parents of children (0-18) with brain disorders (depression, bipolar, OCD, etc.) and the Family-to-Family Group is for adult members. The courses are free and consist of a series of 12 weekly classes addressing such issues as the effect of the mental illness, impact on family members, problem-solving, coping and self-care skills. Each class is taught by the National Association for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) volunteers and take place at our Youth Services office. For more information and registration, visit www.namilake-il.org.
The fee for parenting programs is per couple. This allows a spouse or co-parent to attend the same group. One workbook per couple. Need-based scholarships available. All groups are held at 100 S. Greenleaf St,, Gurnee. No classes the week of March 24-28. Childcare may be available-must be request at the time of registration
