PARENT ENGAGEMENT: KIPP Academy Elementary
Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM (EDT)
This event is part of our Parent Engagement Series. Engaging parents and community members effectively in schools is both complex and vital to the success of the students in the system. Join us as we explore four NYC public schools who have worked hard to ensure that they are successful in engaging their families and communities as partners in their schools.
At KIPP Academy Elementary, they prepare their "KIPPsters" for a lifetime of learning and success by teaching them the academic and character strengths they need to excel in high school and college. They believe that this lofty challenge cannot be done alone and work to include their families in every way possible. They have a community garden that they share with the IRC, they host coffee and conversations monthly, and have Saturday school for the entire family in order to build partnerships that will help them reach our goals.
