Pacific Leatherback Celebration Sail
Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM
Two Great Nonprofits Team Up to Offer Special Sunset Sail
Climb aboard the classic schooner Seaward to explore the bay in the "greenest" way possible - under sail! Take in an unmatched view of the San Francisco cityfront and famous bay landmarks such as Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. Sit back and relax, enjoy delicious snacks and beverages, and get involved in sailing and steering the vessel!
Seaward's and the Sea Turtle Restoration Project’s crew of professional educators will also be offering optional learning stations in ocean conservation, plastic pollution science and removal from the sea, and bay ecology and navigation. Conservation scientist Dr. Chris Pincetich from SeaTurtles.org will be available to discuss marine toxicology and current actions we can all take to work towards a cleaner, healthier future for San Francisco Bay and all ocean habitats.
This special sunset sail is offered by the nonprofit Call of the Sea in partnership with the nonprofit Sea Turtle Restoration Project (SeaTurtles.org). SeaTurtles.org is based in Marin and works tirelessly to protect endangered sea turtles and other marine species from deadly threats. They are celebrating the passage of their bill, AB 1776, this year that recognizes the Pacific Leatherback Sea Turtle as the official marine reptile of the state and declares October 15th every year as Pacific Leatherback Conservation Day. Join us to raise a glass and toast this historic victory!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to support the efforts of the Sea Turtle Restoration Project! Members receive an additional discount, so visit www.SeaTurtles.org to learn more!
