The 79th San Francisco Boat Race dinner celebrates the 160th Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. It promises to be a fine affair in the elegant ambience of the University Club atop Nob Hill in the heart of San Francisco. The University Club is located at Powell and California Streets, adjacent to the Fairmont Hotel.

Winchester studied geology at Oxford and is best-selling author of 22 books including Atlantic, The Man Who Loved China, A Crack in the Edge of the World, Krakatoa, The Professor and the Madman and The Map That Changed the World. During his early career at The Guardian, he covered numerous significant events, including Bloody Sunday and the Watergate Scandal. His latest book, following his naturalization as an American citizen about the USS Constitution on July 4th, 2011, is The Men Who United the States: America's Explorers, Inventors, Eccentrics and Mavericks, and the Creation of One Nation, Indivisible, which was released in October 2013.
Co-chairs are Matthew Kaser (Linacre, Oxford) and Alexander Driskill-Smith (Caius, Cambridge).
